If you live in a larger city you’ve probably seen Cryo places popping up. I’ve seen them in Phoenix Valley and I recently checked out a place called ICRYO in Charlotte, NC at the Blakeny shopping area and it was an experience for sure. If you’re new to understanding these centers and how Cryo works keep reading.
Cryotherapy was originally invented for aiding Rheumatoid Arthritis. It has been known to help with muscle/joint pain, increasing energy, reduce inflammation, increase metabolism, reduce stress, circulate blood which can help your skin look better. You can do a whole body Cryotherapy or specific body focus.
The whole body chamber is where I went first at ICRYO in Charlotte. They give you these gloves, hat and mask on so you don’t get frost bite. The mask has nothing to do with Covid. The chamber temperature ranges from -145-175 with or without windchills depending on the level you choose. I started with level 3 which was 3 minutes in the chamber. While in the chamber the goal is triggering the bodies flight or flight response to recovery and decrease inflammation.
It’s literally like a freezer you stand in. I danced throughout because it was so cold!!
The second service I tried there was the Photobiomodulation (PBM) also known as Red-Light Therapy. It looks as though you are going into a tanning bed. The treatments are 12 minutes. It was first developed by NASA for pain management and skin care using clinically determined red and near-infrared lighting. It’s a recovery treatment but also helps with skin appearance, enhance brain health, boost the immune system and nerve pain relief.
The third service ICRYO has is the Infrared light sauna. This was fabulous because I enjoy getting a good sweat and being hot. This is a great way to purify and detoxify your body. The difference between a regular sauna vs the infrared sauna is how the body is heated. The infrared sauna heat the body from the inside out where a regular sauna heats the air around you first. You’ll get 7 times the detoxification than a regular sauna.
The final service I tried was the Compression Therapy. I sat in this chair and did it for my hip/sacrum area. It is a recovery treatment as well and is known to help with muscle/joint pain relief, improved blood circulation, reduce lactic acid and improve mobility and agility.
Other services they offer are body sculpting, iv infusions, cryo facials, and vitamin shots. The body sculpting for slimming and toning is in a private room instead of a chamber. Depending on your needs it’s a great resource for chronic inflammation and or post covid treatment and a fabulous way to boost your immunity.
