I’ve spent a lot of time and money in the beauty industry. By far the best money I have spent is getting my Ombre Powder Brows. I waited 2 years to get them. I couldn’t get them while pregnant or breastfeeding so keep that in mind if you decide to get them.
In this post I will share all about my experience and answer the questions you have asked me about them. You will also see a video of me getting them done.
Here are my before and after photos
I found a brow artist in Phoenix Arizona who is amazing. She used to be a nurse and got inspired to be a brow artist because she saw the way it can change a face and woman’s confidence. She did microblading first and then explained to me she believes the ombre powder technique is better on the skin because it uses a needle vs a blade and doesn’t cut as deep. She described it as not as “traumatizing” to the skin. The look is also softer like if you were to completely flawlessly apply powder shadow to your brows to fill them in.
It has saved me so much time and effort as my brows were really sparse and not a strength of my face.
Q and A:
How much do they cost?
It depends on the level of the artists experience and how busy they are. They start around $275 for the initial treatment and go up to $550. The “touch up” session can be anywhere between $50-$125. I paid the high end as this gal is a trainer and highly experienced and it was worth every single penny. My touch up was $125.
How long does it last?
It should last 3 years. She told me after my touch up (which I got 6 months after my initial treatment) I shouldn’t see her for 3 years. She did say it depends on someones skin as well though. When I went in for my touch up she looked at me and said “why are you here? it looks perfect?” I wanted to make sure it was all ready to go for the three years and finalize the treatment process.
What’s the procedure like?
You can check out my videos below if you want to see hands on work while I’m getting it done.
First, your brows are measured with something that appears like dental floss. Then the first layer of product goes on the brows but the brow is not numb because the product adheres to the skin better and it’s better without the numbing solution for the first layer. Secondly, once the first layer is on she used a numbing solution and finished it.
How long does it take?
From start of greeting to when I walked out of there it was about 2 hours, maybe a little more. The touch up (second appointment) was 1 hour.
Does it hurt?
I thought the first layer without the numbing felt like an annoying prick. Not bad at all. Whatever numbing solution she uses rocked because I just felt pressure after that. My artist did mention some clients she works on previously had micro blading from a different artist and they say it doesn’t hurt as bad with her maybe because of technique or numbing solution.
How long do they last?
Depends on someones skin Average is 2-3 years.
What’s the recovery like?
Swelling and redness goes down within a couple hours. Color should heal about 30% lighter and shrink about 10%. So it’s going to be much darker and more dramatic the first couple weeks. The peeling starts at day 3 and finishes between 7-14 days. The color may appear light and patchy at 2 weeks and will take 4 weeks for full cover to resurface. Touchups can be done 4-6 weeks after initial treatment.
Need to apply an ointment they give you twice a day. Avoid any product and water on brows. Itching occurs and make sure you don’t itch or scratch. You can’t sweat so that’s a big bummer for me. I had to do mild workouts for 2 weeks. The touch up is lighter and doesn’t take as long to recover. Stay away from sun and heavy sweating basically. Also make sure to avoid sleeping on the face.
I don’t feel any pain at all afterwards, it’s just itchy for a week or so.
Hope this helps you make a decision. I absolutely love my brows.
I know of a great artist in Vegas as well as Phoenix.
For Vegas Laura Grange and for Phoenix Kelle Beauty.
